Reason for Policy

This policy has been designed to insure that employment practices (including compensation, benefits, terminations, recruitment, promotions, and all other terms and conditions of employment) as well as programs involving students both in academic and non-academic programs are administered without regard to individual’s race, creed, color, national origin, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, genetic predisposition or carrier status, age, religion, marital status, veteran status, family status, domestic violence victim status, or any other basis protected by applicable local, state, or federal laws.

Policy

Adelphi University shall take affirmative steps and apply good faith effort toward achieving non-discrimination and equality of opportunity in educational, student programs, and employment actions.

The University undertakes to comply fully with all applicable federal, state and local laws relating to equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, and non-discrimination in services to the public.

It is Adelphi University’s policy to maintain a voluntary program of Affirmative Action to which efforts will be directed to review and update existing practices both for conformity with government regulations and for consistency with the standards of conduct that are endemic to a University.

The adoption and implementation of this Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Policy (AA/EEO) acknowledges Adelphi University’s responsibility and commitment to provide an equal opportunity workplace. Reports of concerns about this policy should be made to the Office of Human Resources.
